Ravenna's International Heritage
The international heritage of Ravenna, city of mosaics, has been recognised by UNESCO. Eight monuments built over a period of 1500 years have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The international heritage of Ravenna, city of mosaics, has been recognised by UNESCO. Eight monuments built over a period of 1500 years have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Ravenna, city of art and culture, city of mosaics, ancient city 1600
years ago was three times as capital of the Roman Empire of the West,
of King Theodoric of the Goths, the empire of Byzantium in Europe.
The magnificence of this period has left Ravenna with a great heritage monuments of the colorful mosaics.
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, a small building in brick that
does not leave imagine the wealth of the mosaics inside. The Baptistery
Neoniano, shining with marquetry marble, stucco and polychrome mosaics
in the dome. The most shining period of the kingdom of the Goths, the
Baptistery of the Arians, to octagonal, with a dome adorned with a
mosaic representing the baptism of Christ. Also during the reign of
Theodoric, to the practice of worship Aryan, was built the Basilica of
Sant'Apollinare New, and then consecrated to Catholic worship. The
Mausoleum of Theodoric episode is a unique and unrepeatable
architectural Built with large blocks of Istrian stone, a central
plant, spread over two floors. Archbishop's Chapel is the only Orthodox
monument during the reign of Theodoric. The Basilica of San Vitale is'
one of the purest creations of early Christian in Italy, a form of

walls of the port, is the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Class: The amount
